Default head swap advice please!

I'm going to be doing a H/C swap and got ARP studs to replace the OEM head bolts. My question is: would it be possible to replace each bolt with a stud one at a time before I take the head off? In theory this would save me the hassle of cleaning out coolant from each hole because I would have all the studs in place Before I took the heads off and spilled coolant in them. Anyone ever done this? If this would work, should I still chase out the threads before installing the studs? TIA

I figured I'd still have to chase the threads to get all the factory threadlock crap out. I guess doing that with the heads still in place would be as much of a PIA as having to clean coolant out of the holes. Oh well, seemed too simple to actually work!

Here is a tip that has worked for me.While draining the coolant, undo the T-stat and take the front coolant line off the front of the head. Take your air hose and blow air in the heads, you will blow the majority of the remaining coolant out of the heads. Very little coolant in the bolt holes this way.

easier yet, stick a piece of 1/4 inch syten clear tubing down each coolant passage in the heads and siphon out coolant below level of each head. no coolant in bolt holes
