if I had to do it again I would have just kept my stockers, no reason to spend 300 + bucks to have to worry about valve float IMO. Sure they are supposed to be safer but to me a good function/bolt in product is better than having to tinker with stuff.

I have the YT's now and no float with stock lifters but it did have to be tinkered with.

I run YTs, Comp Rs, and 978 springs and no valve float. Just get close on lifter preload.

to make sure, the correct torque number is 22lbs. on the center bolt with the yella terra'z?

It seems if you swap the springs out, you should resolve the problem. The spring itself is wat is causing the valve float, no enough pressure to keep the vlave in check.... Opt for the pushrods, dual springs or the comp beehive's (i think they are 918), retainers, keepers....etc. You can leave the rockers for last. I would suggest a set of adjustable so you can set your preload but if not, than the yella terra'z are a good choice for the money.

I run:

595/600 lift cam
.100 longer valves
Comp R oem-style replacement lifters
Y/T 1.7 rockers
Comp 977 Springs

Car pulls clean to 7200 rpms

I had to switch valve springs after I went to a more aggressive cam, car fell off like a stone at 6300.

Don't blame the rockers, you probably don't have enough spring or have the springs installed correctly.

Most, I mean most, springs are done by 6500 if not sooner. And different cams will require different springs.

i was reading the how to page, the one with the c5. fobody install..

anyways, the procedure when installing the rockers went like this.

Install the rockers
Set the preload by a 1/4 to 1/2 turn clockwise
THEN torque down to 22lbs.

Wouldnt by torquing the rockers cause the preload adjustment to be set off?

The initial 1/4 to 1/2 turn would establish 0 lash.

Ran my 1.7 YT's with C918's for 7K miles with no valve float. Currently running the Patriot Duals and Tit retainers for 10K. No valve float. The YT's are extremely well built rockers and work great. They do however add more weight to the valve compared to the stocker. I can see valve float occuring with tired springs.

Thanks for the help. I will throw in some Patriot Gold's and Ti retainers and see if that helps.
