Default TEA Stage 3 Heads

I'm looking at the TEA Stage 3 AFRs and TEA Stage 3 LS6s, and it looks like the LS6s have better flow until .600" or so. I think I remember the intake port volume being 242cc for the S3 AFRs, but what's the volume for the S3 LS6s? Which one would make better power NA since they are comparable in price? I won't be using nitrous or boost. These will be for a 408 with this cam: TSP 248/254 .629"/.622" 113 LSA. Bolt-ons will include QTP 1-7/8" HVM Headers, and FAST LSX90 to help it breathe.

A good question you need to find out first is what kind of pistons you have?
The LS6 heads with a flat top in a 408 with a stock gasket will put your around 11.7:1 compression. Some people dont like going that high for some crazy reason.
You might beable to save 700 bucks or so and use the LQ9 heads.
Mill them to 68cc's and run a .040 head gasket.
This gives you 11.6:1 compression and saves you a good amount of money on head cores.

As far as the LS6/AFR TEA ported heads.
I would do the AFR's just because they are a better casting, and for the small price difference why not?
I would do it just so I could say I have AFR ported TEA's.
I have a similar combo as you but am cheep and went with the LQ9's and thinner head gaskets.

Diamond forged flat tops with 2cc valve reliefs. And ya, that should put me around 11.7, which is about what I want. And in Florida, I've got 93 octane so I'm not worried, especially with the overlap of this cam. And, you're right about the LQ9s.

I'm going to be putting this together myself, because I'm insane and I want my wife to hate my guts.

Thats great.
Glad I am not married, or my wife would have whooped my *** many times by now.
I am south of you and I am almost the exact same setup like I said before.
With 93 octane and the quality tuners we have we should be fine. Brent talked me into the LQ9 heads about a month ago. Haven't recieved them yet but hopefully soon.
Good luck man.

I just got a set of TEA's S3 6.0L heads for my 408, and they flow very well, and the savings over the AFR's and LS6's is well worth it. I too am running a Diamond flat top with 2cc valve reliefs, and .040 head gaskets. My combustion chambers were milled to 72cc to keep a nice CR of about 11.2:1. TEA heads are simply the best, and you can't go wrong with any choice.
