Default Compression Ratio ?

Is there any difference in power/driveability/etc from getting your compression from a certain cc in the head or from going with a dome/dish piston.
I don't think it should matter and I know that they are both used to come up with the total CR. But does the engine know any difference? Thanks in advance.

In a simple answer.
Not really.
Where is matters is milling the heads to much can make a difference on the way the head flows and hurt power.
