Default compression drop

what are the typical signs of a loss of compression in a 98 T/A?? I know it's a pain to check, especially on the rear plugs. thanks

I read that wrong again:

Loss of power across the band

Rough idle/engine shake (if one or more cylinders are extremely low)

Oil breakdown (fuel in oil, blow-by), check under valve covers as well.

Lower than normal vacuum signal

Exhaust emitting blue, grayish smoke

Look for:

Ring wear

Cylinder taper

Weak/broken valve spring(s)

Head gasket leak

Valve sealing (seat wear, carbon build-up on back of valve)

Valve timing (cam selection)

Loose spark plug
