katech rod bolts install problem...Help!

Default katech rod bolts install problem...Help!

Hi everyone!

I was installing the Katech rod bolts when I encountered a problem. I got everything on and was installing the oil pan and was down to my last bolt. It's the transmission to oil pan bolt. I torqued it down to 35 ft-lbs and it kept spinning. Damn, the threads are stripped inside the hole!
Can someone please tell me what I can do to fix it. Can I just re-thread the hole? Thanks.

You might be able to rethread it for a bigger bolt, but I would just use a heli-coil insert. The instructions come with them.

BTW, the Katech rod bolts have been working great in my car; I've given it some rigorous testing

Helicoil insert. Assuming you have a drill and bits, Get the correct insert (couple extra just in case) and the install tools.

Thanks guys! Never used a helicoil before, but what the hell. Never installed rod bolts before either. Wasn't all that bad. Do I have to take the pan back off to do this or can I leave it on?
