Default Tach problem HELP!!!!

ok, to make a long story short just swapped my 02 motor with a forged 99 346 engine, I know that the only Sensor difference or so im told is the coolant temp.

now...... for my problem

got the car together and took it out. Car runs fine. like it should no missing and even at WOT the car hauls *** in many different ways. with no issues. my only problem is the RPM gauge is not working at all. it will jump up at start up to 0 rpms (only off the column) otherwise it wont move. anyone ever have this issue after swapping a motor? or could it maybe be one of the sensors that are different signal wise to the tach?

any help would be greatly appreciated THANKS!

Might be your crankshaft position sensor. My tach would bounce all over the place when it went bad, but the car ran perfectly fine. Are you getting any trouble codes?

I had that problem two years ago, and it was the camshaft position sensor, not the crankshaft position sensor.
