Default 97-01 and 02-04 head gaskets are different??

first of all, im taking my 02 z28 back to stock. i ordered a set of head gaskets from scoggin dicky. i ordered the ones for 02-04 ls1 because i had a deal going with a guy for a set of 02 stock heads. well, it looks like the money order didnt get there for some reason. im looking at another set from an 01. will these gaskets work, and if not, what is the difference in the 97-01 gaskets and the 02-04 gaskets?? am i matching gaskets to the cylinder heads i will buy or to my 02 block??

It's my understanding that the earlier (97-98 853 and 6L 317 castings) have a notch between #3 and #6 cylinder and require the Gaphite gasket to seal. Later years (241 castings) do not have the notch. The ~.055" graphite gasket was used from 97-01 while 02 and later use the .060" MLS gaskets. You can use the graphite gasket on either head, but the ealry heads require it.
