Default AFR 225 on stock bottom LS1?

I know that AFR recommends a large CID engine for the 225's... Just wondering how they would work on a stock LS1. Also, like to know how big of a cam I could run with the AFR 225's with a stock bottom LS1.

SEARCH is your friend....MANY posts have been written addressing this.
Yes, you can go with the 225's but the product you need (the 62 cc version) is still not available yet. Sorry bout that guys....we are doing the best we can. Hopefully soon.....

I did search. Couldn't find a thread addressing these heads with a stock LS1. Can you explain why I'd have to have the "62cc version"?

The 225 is at 72 cc combustion chamber. That would make you less than stock compression. Not good unless you have FI. AFR does not recommend milling the 225 to 62cc as is to get better compression - flow will be way off. So, AFR is creating a 225 head that ships at 62cc to get you a better compression for a stock LS1 and has the right flow.

Tony, fix whatever I got wrong.

We milled the 225s and then do additional port/polish work in house. Right now we hold the stock bottom end 346ci dyno record (Car is undergoing the knife right now with a new transmission before we can make more E/T passes) through a 9" with 35 spline axles. LSX 90mm Intake, NW 90mm TB, TTP Equalizer V 3.1 Camshaft, TTP S3 AFR 225s milled to 10.9:1 C/R.

Note: Red graph was another shop's H/C package we removed.

Why do you feel you need or want the 225's?? Are you planning on doing some heavy mods in the future.

Wow, 505rwhp on a heads/cam car with a 9".
Was that on pump gas? How much timing?

93 octane pump gas, between 26-28 degrees.

More flow = more hp? Am I wrong in my train of thought? When are the correct CC 225's going to be available for stock LS1s?

i wanted to go with the 225's milled to 62cc's, but the p\v clearance was too close, even with flycut pistons and not to large of a cam

Late Summer to early fall on the release of the 62 cc 225's. I think we will be seeing a handful of legit stock displacement 500 RWHP cars when this head finally touches down....

You guys will be the first to know...

Will there be a price difference from the current 225's and will the cam recommendations change? And if so, what would the cam spec recommendation be?

No price difference guys....Flow #'s and I/E ratio's will be practically identical to our current 72 cc versions. They would share similar cam requirements based on you're individual applications. The 62 cc version will simpy afford the end user to achieve higher CR without a huge penalty in flow loss. (They should be able to be milled as low as 57 cc's without killing the numbers as well).
