Default Need advice.

Okay, First off, I know I'm stupid (you'll see why), but you live and learn.

A while back I got a used ls1 cam from a swap meet for $25 off the recommendation of someone I knew pretty well but it was also mentioned that it was a "blower cam". I finally got around to installing it back in november along with some stage 2 ported heads that I dont have all that much info on besides the fact they are from ARD and they came off of Owen's car and have 918 springs on them. The valves i have no clue about. The car HAS been tuned at HPE, it wouldn't even idle before the tune.

Anyways the cam surges fairly bad from a cold start. In reverse it surges really bad regardless of temperature. Some times when I start it hot or cold, it will rev then drop really low (around 500 rpm) then up then down a bit and some times it shuts off (if it goes low enough). The car sucks gas pretty badly aswell and since I have installed LTs and ORY is smells alot like Gasoline. And actually since I've installed the headers the car doesn't really "feel right" but I think that may be related to the horrible fitment issues I'm having with the Kooks ORY pipe that likes to bang around 2300- 3000 rpm and sounds like it's shuddering when the tranny shifts.

I've tried to get the cam specs but haven't been too sucessful (I never should have installed a cam without getting the specs first... but I was anxios and stupid.) I eventually found some info on it but it doesn;t resemble a normal cam sheet. Here it is <-- It is a pdf. It is the X-2221 (I got the number off of the cam before I installed it.

Anyways, can someone figure out this cam for me... I think I may just take it out and put the stocker back in and get a proven cam and stop being such a cheap ***. Atleast it sounds mean. Thanks in advance.

The only way to be 100% sure is to pull the cam out and put it on a cam doctor.

Mike,

Bring it by the shop. Sounds like I just need to adjust the idle settings slightly. Often pretty easy to fix those problems you're describing.
