Help! Valvetrain shim size
Help! Valvetrain shim size Ok so when I took my car apart a long long time ago I found that shim that goes under your rocker arms and thought it was aftermarket because of the cam that was in there, but with TREX I didn't need that shim so I threw them away
Now I need to know what size that shim is so I can make a new pair of them, I don't really want to take my transam apart to mesure it.
If someone has their valvetrain apart can you mesure the shim for me and post it up?

Ok then something is really wierd, I have what I thought were stock rocker arms, 7.400 TR pushrods, stock base circle comp camps cam, comp r lifters, and I know for sure my valves are aftermarket as they have a thicker (and longer?) stem.
Were the shims little black rectangles approximately .54" x .86" with a .35" x .32" ovalish shaped hole w/ 2 flat sides...in the middle? If so, those are the Ford Motorsport pedestal shims. They come in a pack that contains two different sizes like .015" and .030" if I recall. I guess your geometry was off somewhere, like you said, with either higher ratio rockers, longer valves etc. Somebody must've used them to correct the problem. They work well for that.
Also, are you sure the lifters are Comp R? If so, those require adjustable rocker arms. Stock rockers aren't adjustable and won't work with that setup. Can you take a few pics of the valvetrain?
