Default 98 Corvette leaking gas under engine.

Well, my brother in laws 1998 corvette is leaking gas. I havent gotten to see the car as he lives in St. Louis and I am in Dallas, but I am considering heading up there to help him out. (he has left it parked for 6months+ because of this).

He said that for about a week he noticed the car was smelling like gas, and was getting harder to start. Then he noticed some gas was leaking and he didnt want to risk it. The car only has 38k miles and is perfect, so him having any problems suprises me.

Let me know what you guys think, I am thinking either the quick connect fuel fittings or the fuel pressure regulator could be leaking, but those seem unlikely.

Start by pulling out the injectors along with the fuel rails. They'll pop right out without any problems. They are connected by a rubber hose, so put this whole assembly aside. Inspect all of the O-rings at this point. If everything is fine, then have someone looking at the fuel system under the hood, have someone inspecting the lines under tha car, and have someone turn the key to accessories ON. This will prime the fuel system, and make any leaks squirt out or drip gasoline. Just be sure the inspectors are wearing safety goggles. This will find your culprit quickly, and easily.

I hope this helps. He can do this with a few buddies and you want have to make the trip out there.

If it isn't at one of the injectors you would suspect the supply/return junction to the fuel rails. Those clips have to be latched in securely to prevent leaks.
