Default The required components..

When buying and installing a cam in the 230 to 240 range, what other parts are neccesary to prevent any damage to your car?

I read the cam guide and so far I know for sure I need new springs.

AND

are there any components that should really be installed for the best results?

Hardened push rods, better lifters, a good tune, and depending on the lift you may need to check your valve clearance.

Also you may want to hit the timing chain, and/or oil pump as those are optional but wise to replace as you are already in there. Since the crank pulley will be off, I would suggest an underdrive pulley as well.
