Bored out ls1?!?!?!?
Ive heard that there is a way to get the ls1 engine bored out so it has about 600hp, does any one know if this is true and if so where to get it done? I do remember seeing a yellow SS on the cover of a year one parts book with the 600hp tag on the side of the scoop.
You can get the block bored and resleved to a 427 and alittle biger, and probly see 600fwhp but get your check book out.

Boring the ls1 is not going to net 600 hp ever. There is alot of money to spend achieving 600 hp, no short cut anywhere. My suggestion is to read and read and read this forum and store up some knowledge and make some educated decisions when you are ready but save in the mean time for your dreams. If you have the money already id study up and decide what direction you want to go. A stroker 427 NA may be what you want or N2o or maybe a turbo????? Hp will cost alot eventually even with N20. N20 might be the shortcut you are looking for price wise??
You could do it with the right combo. BTW you can't really bore an ls1. You can either re-sleeve it or get a different block (lq9, ls2, c5-r) Ls1's will only take a slight hone up to ~348. Typical is a 347 though.

Ls7 crate motor's are going to be big $$$. They have ti-rods and forged internals so there isn't much beefing up you can do to them. They have INCREDIBLE heads that are near c5-r level. Not to mention it's just a straight monster of a motor.

Sorta just adding to the post, but i have an ls6 motor that needs some machine work. What is the deal with these things, i have people sayin 20 over is ok, some say 30 is max and some say 10 is it. What are your opinions?

Those cars and the other Camaro speciality cars that GMMG builds that are 427 cu. in. use the C5R block nothing cheep about that setup...they will custom build you a car to your specs...they rock and roll but bring plenty of $$$..

97-00 LS1 blocks allow for a .004" clean up hone. 01+ LS1 blocks allow for a .010" bore. I believe (but not 100% positive) that the LS6 blocks are the same.

yeah, I also went over the suggested / allowable after chatting with a few others that have. We didn't go .030" over like you did, just enough to get my 3.905 pistons in there. I haven't spoke to anyone with 4000+ miles yet. but most haven't had problems.
