If it was a mechanical over-rev, then the engine would be FORCED to go past whatever rev limiter is present. Even it it was set at 5k, the engine could still be forced to 6K.

Thats what I thought. It was forced to overrev by the speed in relation to the gear, not by the throttle input (in which case it could pull fuel/spark).

Hmmmm, I see, thanks for the info, see I've only driven A4/A3 LS1's. With my Ex ricers, OHC never had that problem.

Would that be throughout the whole RPM range? I hear something like I don't know how to discribe but I only hear it from 2000 to 1200 RPMs (no load on the engine). I don't know it's the exhaust or what but I noticed it when checking it about 5 minutes ago.

Yeah that is exactly what I meant, thanks for putting in better terms!

I doubt that anything happened to your engine. Your clutch slipped, your tires slipped, you caught it quick.... I'm thinkin' you might have to float the valves and bang a piston to bend a pushrod...

Guys, did you read GTO?obsessor's original question? He was asking if what he did "might" have damaged anything. the next thread said might have bent a pushrod and everybody jumps on the bandwagon to get this guy to tear his motor apart and put pushrods in.

Heh... a friend of mine said to check the heads for damage (and head gasket for breaks in the seal)... think he's right on? I might have Don Lee Auto take a look at it while I'm there getting my clutch/master/slave installed.
