Default Rebuild Kit

Ok, I have my engine completely torn down. Heres what I'm doing.

FTI cam, Manton pr's, enduratech springs, Katech rod bolts. New rod and main bearings, piston rings, and some other stuff I forgot I'm sure. Question is, Thunder Racing wants somewhere around 350 for a gasket kit and head bolts.

Just out of curiousity I called Summit. A rep told me 240 for an engine gasket rebuild kit, rod bearings, main bearings, AND piston rings-all Federal Mogul! This just doesn't sound right to me. Thunder wants 140 for just the rod and main bearings! Just sounds to good to be true!

Any comments?

Depends on what components its comprised of. Can you give us a link to the TR rebuild kit? Maybe it has cometic head gaskets as opposed to OEM or other head gaskets... That could easily make up the difference. 240 seems like a really good price if it includes gaskets, bearings and rings. Youre sure thats not the price for SBC rebuild kit?

The rep asked me what year, I told him a 99. After he told me the price, I asked him "This is for an ls1 engine, right," and he assured me that it was?
