quick cam install questions

quick cam install questions Installing the Cheatr cam, 918 springs, pushrods and tit. retainers, should I use shims with the springs? I'v been told either or, I would really like to know. Also, should I get new locks for the springs, or are the stock '04's sufficient? TIA, should be installing this Friday,
