Default fly cut piston ???

Installed heads and cam this weekend and clayed for clearence. The cam card calls for 0.060" clearance on intake and 0.120" clearance on exhaust.

I only have about 0.015" clearance on the intake valve so will need reliefs in the pistons.

Can I get the stock pistons fly cut that much or should I go with forged pistons? I don't want to just burn $$$ but also don't want to have something give out in 5,000 miles.

Lastly, can I pull the pistons out through the top side with the engine in the car? If I can't and I have to drop the crank, do I have to buy new main cap bolts? Does ARP make better rod bolts?

Thanks guys,

Chris

You should have at least .080" on the intake and .100" on the exhaust. Typically!

When you the flycut the stock pistons you can get at least .080" out of them safely. What are the specs on your cam??

You can get them out through the top if you need too. You should br OK without spending big corn.

You should be able to cut the stock pistons that much with out any problem. You will have to remove the pistons from the rods to have them cut most likely. We can cut them for you if you don't have anyone near you to do it.
