Default big duration low lift?

Im in the works on a custom grind cam... I want a good duration like the big cams but I dont want the spring wear that comes with it...

I was thinking somthing like 231/237 560/563 +4 on a 112 lsa whats the pros and cons of this cam with the low lift and high duration?

Your idea will work good with stock heads and/or ported heads with good low/mid lift flow numbers.

cool thanx... yeah Im running stock heads and if I do get heads its going to be the 5.3's...

I guess since Im going to run a small lift It would be better to go with a XE-R grind?

Even with lower lift cams, the XE-R lobes' inherent increased ramp rates will put additional strain on valve springs. Just letting you know since you're picking based on spring life.

The car will make less power. Idle will be worse. P to V clearence will be almost exactly the same so no benifit there.
I say just buy a better spring and get all the benifits you can get.
I used a MTI cam before that was a 232/236 575/578 I believe.
Car ran good, and I was happy. Switched to a 224/228 581/588 and made VERY similar power. Peak came earlier, idel was noticeably better, and the car acturally ran better times at the track. I am not saying your idea is a bad idea just not something I myself would choose to do.
Good luck with it.

Yeah Ramp rates on the XE-R are very agresive... but I would like to make some decent power. Im sure it would be better then say a 590-600 lift would be on the springs... Im looking to get a good 20-30k miles on 918's Ill talk with the guys at comp and see what they think.. if the XE-R grind will be pushing it then Ill just step down to the normal grind
