Default Intake Question

Im finally breaking down and gonna get my 5.3l heads ported.I was wondering if I should go with the LS6 intake or the Holley/Ligenfelter intake? The heads will be a stage 2 port job with a TR224/112lsa cam to start.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Default Re: Intake Question

The advantages that the Holley intake offer over the LS6 intake is slightly better intake flow (some say up to 5HP increase), but the real advantage is its ability to be dissassembled and the intake runners ported. Also, if you will be running nitrous, you can drill the jets into the intake better than with the plastic one.

Others see the Holley intake as a heat sink because its made of metal and could in theory heat up your intake air, thus decreasing engine performance.

That one minus aside, I would say if you really can take advantage of its ability to port and/or nitrous abilities, its not really worth it if you already have the LS6 intake. If you have an LS1 intake and dont mind spending a little extra, I'd say go for it.
