Default Getting Cam, What Computer Mods Needed?

I'm getting the Comp Cam Extreme. From what I read, it says you must have computer modifications. What exactly needs to be done? I have the Diablo Sport. Is it anything I can do with that? I appreciate any info and help!

im running the comp xe-r and it runs fine without any computer mods, if you get it tuned it will sound more like stop, but its definately not needed.

Get a ED Wright powertuning, best to get everything you can out of your cam.

You will highly benefit with a good tune. The Predator is limited in what it can do, and you'll want someone who knows what they are doing to do the tune. You also won't want it tuned until after the install. Find a shop with HP Tuners or LS1 edit. Seeing as you're from NY, I'd recommend East Side Performance or Rapid Motorsports.

1) Install Cam
2) Get a tune.

If you are close to any reputable tuner, definitely get it tuned by them....those tunes are always better than any mail order tune. My buddy had a Ed Wright tune done. Not only did he have driveability issues, but his computer was also locked, so noone could mess with it until it was reflashed the factory specs and then the tune was started from scratch. With the Ed Wright tune he had bad street manners and 381 hp, with the custom tune by RevXtreme he got great road manners and 400 hp to the wheels.

Don't even mess with a Predator tune or anything like that.

With some small cams like mine you can actually get away with a stock tune. Truth be known, my car drove better with less bucking on it's first tune (done by the same shop, but only for the headers, LS6 intake, ported tb) than it did after the tune done with the cam in the car.

Big cams definitely NEED a tune. I don't know the specs on your cam....it's called "extreme" must be big

Is it an old version of Diablo or the new one?
Doesn't the new one have live data recording capabilities?
Then with that data you can get a custom diablo tune.

But just by the way you asked the question, I can tell you do not have much experience with motors. Who is going to do the install for you??

It's the new Diablo and yes it has live data recording. Actually, I do have experience with the motor which means that I am doing the cam and a buddy of mine as well is going to help.

Cool, then you can get a custom Diablo tune done for it and more upgrades after live monitoring if necessary. All can be done via cpu/e-mail.

What extreme cam are you choosing?

If you want more power, I would choose 224/224, .581/.581 112+4, XE-R lobes
Easier to tune and more trq under the curve + a few more ponies on top.

That's more of a racing cam. My car stays on the street way more than going on the track. The lobe on that cam is 114. I'm feeling comfortable with the one I chose. Thank you for the suggestion though.

allright,
But BTW XE-R lobes are just steeper to open and close valves quicker, which gives you more trq down low and a little broader range on top.
you can have that cam on a 114.
I have a 224/220, .581/.581 116lsa +0 (Stealth) so I can assure you it is no problem on the street.
