ls1 vs. ls6 heads
I have a set of 99 5.7 LS1 heads that were ported by Absolute Speed (stage 2)....They made 407 hp/395tq with a thunder 224 cam/kooks . My Question is Im gonna be getting a 01 LS6 motor from a low milage vette in the next week or 2. What would be the HP/TQ difference if I put the 224 cam in the Stock head LS6 motor????
I'm hoping I can just slide the cam in the motor and install some valve springs and go....Or should I stick the AS heads on the LS6 block????

Ported LS1 heads will flow WAY better than stock LS6 heads.
Ported LS6 heads could make 10-15hp more than the ported LS1 heads.
If I were you, I'd throw the LS1 ported heads on the LS6 block, and sell the LS6 heads.

Just cause they are ported doesn't mean it a good port job.
