I am about to install a new cam tomorrow. Should i use assembly lube on the new cam or just use oil?

 

Just drench the cam in motor oil.

 

Cam lube man use it then brake the cam in and change the oil.

 

Well shouldn't the cam of came with lube?

 

Def use some assembly lube!! Engine builders use it for a reason!

 

I agree with LoPey. You don't need assembly lube with the roller lifters. Oil is all you need.

No lube, just oil. What cam did you go with?

 

Also agreed, but some engine builders still put assembly lube on, ONLY ON THE CAM LOBES, not the bearing journals. If this is going back together right away and started I would only use oil, but if this might sit awhile, probably lube....oil will run off.

 

oil is fine. Ram it in, fire her up!!

 

I used the Redline lube in a few places, tips of push rods, chain damper, aid to install o-ring (hope I got that right, my startup is tomorrow). The Redline assembly lube has no moly and disolves very quickly into the oil.

I used royal purple assembly lube on my entire cam(lobes and journals), and on the valves seals and the valve locks. I haven't started it yet though.

Oil, get it covered well, It will do the job.
