Default Heads Info

I am a noob to a lot of this so take it easy on me guys. I have a 98 T/A, i have the stock heads on the car and all stock internals. I have a few bolt on mods and free mods. I have plans for a lot more down the line. I was wanting to know the difference in the heads from 98 to 02. I hear that they are not the same. Can someone tell me a little about the heads for the different years and which ones are better. are 02 heads better than 98? Just need some info here. I had planned on putting a cam in the car in a few months. I was just going to go with one that would compliment my stock heads for now due to the money factor. What would be the best way to go. Car is just a weekend car and not a daily driver. Thanks for the info guys

The 241's are a little bit better than your 806's stock for stock. I believe the later 241's flow better due to being a smoother casting. I don't think the basic design of the 241's are any different, and when ported the 806's and 241's are equal.

Are you sure about that? I thought only the ls6 heads had the sand cast vs. SPM thing going on. All 241's were SPM?

Anyway, I believe that there are differences between the 98 castings and the 01+ 241 castings that extend beyond just smoothness. I have heard that they need to run different CNC programs for each different casting. I have heard the 241 are worth about 10 HP over the early perimeter bolt heads on their own. Simply cleaning up the casting flash will help even more.
