Default Heads came in yesterday, a few pics

Well, it took 5.5 weeks for them to come in, but I'm happy with the outcome so far (#s to come). Precision Porting stg 3, with thermal coating to cumbustion chambers & valves. PRC Gold dual valve spring kit. Here are a few pictures.

The rest of my setup is: LGM G5X3 114, LS6 intake, LS6 oil pump, Double roller, 160* stat, Trick Flow hardened pushrods, 36# injectors....

Yeah, it is about time, but hopefully worth the wait. Can't wait to hear your results. I wish you were closer to me, I want to get these things on NOW!!

NOSjohn, I wish it was a FAST, but the box has a LS6 intake in it. I bought it used, so thats what I picked it up in.

You're right, I should've bought your ported heads. So, how many heads have you done to date?

I know the feeling trust me! I clayed the cylinder tonight and checked PTV...my best measurements put me over .100" so it looks like I got the greenlight to finish this baby up. I'll be working on it evenings this week and should have it ready to fire up this weekend...hopefully I'll be able to get over to CAM for a tune on Monday.

I can't remember are those 241 (LS1) or 243 (LS6) heads? The flow numbers look like LS1. Yours are slightly better than mine but not by too much...happen to know your runner size?

Have car will travel...you're not too far. Let me know when you plan on doing it and I'll see if I'm available. The tear-down is pretty simple but requires some grunt work and cleaning out the block which is time consuming (and very important). I'm guessing you're going with stock gaskets so you don't really have to measure PTD height to set quench, and if that's the case your PTV clearance should be fine...so mostly you'll just be bolting everything back up without too much complication. Anyway, let me know.

These are 241 heads. I don't know the runner size off the top of my head, I'll post up after lunch. He sent me a set of FelPro gaskets with the heads. The PTVC should be fine, but I'd like to check to be safe.

Maybe next weekend?

It looks like the "mixture motion dam" or "swirl dam" has been removed, that makes the port VERY close to the water jacket, was that area welded? If not were they pressue checked? Just curious.

I'm pretty sure that is a build up of the thermal coating that's applied to the combustion chambers.

I'm going to cantact them today to find out for sure. Thanks for the heads up.
