cam question for 98 trans am
hey all, i'm looking for a good DD cam. the mods on my car are on my cardomain site. its a 98 trans am A4. I was looking at the TR228, TR224, and TSP 231/237. Which LSA is good for an auto? I will stall, but I'm debating which stall size to go with, probably 2800 or 3200.
At least 3200 stall & TR224 114 lsa. Or 112 for a little more chop at idle. Do a little research, you'll come up with the same thing. Or you could try Thunders new CheaTR cam. Good driving cam that makes good power.
it doesn't matter which lsa you get, the key to making a cam work in an auto is the stall converter. either one of those cams on a 112 lsa would work well with a 2800-3200 converter. i am assuming you have 323 gears. do some research and determine for yourself, don't let anyone talk you in or out of a cam. as the cam is one of the most important mods you can do, and a lot of planning has to go into a properly configured cammed car.
i had the tsp 231/237 cam in my auto with the factory stall, and a factory gear and its driveability was actually good. my car had been tuned for a hotcam when i put it in, but its alot bigger than a hotcam.
