Default Cam questions

Ok guys I am changing my cam very soon. I have 3 cams in mind. Is there a way to determine if a cam will fit in my car with stock heads before I order the cam? the specs on the cams are:
Cam 1 - 240 244 .609 .612 110
Cam 2 - 242 248 .610 .624 110

i would guess that you would need to mill or deck the heads for #3.

i think that you will need to fly cut the pistons if you are going to use the stock ones but if you are going with an aftermarket ones with -2cc valve relife on them i think that you wont have a problem

ok but is there a way to tell without guessing. can you not say a cam with x duration will cause the piston and valve clearence to be y?

Yep, there is a way, degree it and clay it. That way you'll know for sure.

I meant on paper to prevent me from claying it. Is there a formula?

there probably is a formula for it, but if claying determines insufficient clearance, just flycut your pistons, not too difficult

No but it becomes more expensive and I will have to wait longer to install it.
