Default Oil Sprayers in Valve Covers, to use or not to use?

Guys, the valve covers I got from East Side have provisions for oil sprayers inside. All I would have to do is run a high pressure oil feed to each one, it's already mounted. They used them because of the way they bushed their block which restricted oil to the top end of the motor. I will be looking at lifters with a different oiling system so my top end may not be as starved for oil. I have heard that if you start getting over the .700" range and drive on the street you should use oil sprayers to cool the valve springs. What are you thoughts on this?

Also, if one was using the stock oiling system (albeit with a high volume pump) where would one find a high pressure feed of oil without starving the engine. Would the oil diverter plate above the oil filter (the piece that is held to the oil pan by two 10mm bolts) be a good place? Isn't that where the turbo guys get there oil from? Thanks

Nick

a friend of mine is running a 522 BB with an F-2 and pushing 25#'s boost. Spring oilers came as a recommendation from Bo Laws Perf. .780 solid roller, no issues with springs yet, probably a good idea in your application. Have you considered dry sump oiling?

Yes, I've considered dry sump, then I considered $2500 for it, ha ha. Will keep this motor wet sump for now and under 7500.

Oh, and BTW, your friends setup sounds slow, ha ha. I bet that things a beast. Does he drive it or just race it and if he drives it how many miles has he gotten out of those springs?

I know, I know but there is where the corvette gets its oil temp sender, good idea on the turbo, and
NO dont use the sprayers... they are thinked for gen I, II V-8
ours with a decently ported and polished AND shimmed pump should sufice...
but not much, the pump are marginal as it is....

I have C5R covers (which are set up for spring oilers) and I will be using them -- just don't have my lines yet. It is a great way to help your valvesprings.

So are you saying not to use the sprayers because the wet sump system in the ls1 gen3 motors is not up to snuff?

Where did you plan to run your high pressure line from and are you running a wet sump?

I am getting the tap from the pressurized feed above the oil filter -- that thing that bolts above your oil filter. Drill and tap it and there ya go. Mine is currently tapped for a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Then just run your lines however you'd like up to the valve covers.

I dont plan on doing any of this, but I am curious about it. I know how these motors like the keep a lot of oil in the top end. So would this be a way of limiting that. Ive never seen the oil passages in this motor so I have no clue to any of this.

Hey man, do you know what rockers he runs and are they aluminum or steel bodied? Thanks a ton.
