Default 224/224 vs. 224/228?

I've been developing an interest in the 224/228 cams lately and am wondering how they compare to 224/224's. If you look at the FMS F5, which has .588"/.581" lift, compared to the TR224, what would be the difference power wise?

The split cam will help if you have concerns on the exhaust side. Mine for instance needs help on the exhaust side with the TTS headers and cats so I would lean toward the split.

All else being equal, the longer overall duration will make more power also.

if you're gonna do it again, might as well go a bit bigger than that yet.

Yea, I'm running a TR224 with Patriot Stage 2 Heads and it runs real smooth. I'm running right at 400RWHP but if it's tuned right I'd probably go bigger on the cam. It had a TR224 in it when I bought it but I was thinking of going larger myself. If your getting a nice set of heads I'd go even larger than either of those.

^^^ that's more like it! if you were going through the hastle to install a new cam i def wouldn't just move up a tiny bit... but if you don't want a huge cam, then something in the 230's range would be a good choice like the one you spec'd.

The only way to answer your question is on the dyno, and the difference between these two cams would be very small.

its fine. unless your going to bump up to 23x/23x dont waste the cash or time. you will have a good smog legal car and provided the right tune, over 400hp is easily obtainable.
