power problem?

power problem? well, i just got an 02 trans am A4 over the weekend... and it has 56k miles...
the engine seems to be in good condition a bit shaky idle, that i've ordered some spark plugs some TR55's and some wires to hopefully clear up a bit of maintance questions...
But... I was driving up a hill and the car was in 4th gear, going about 50, and while trying to keep the car in overdrive, it couldnt keep 50mph, it dropped to 45 or so before it shifted back to third and really pulled...
but why cant it keep 50 in 4th gear? or is this standard? I beleive it is 3.23's it was probably at 1200-1300 rpms or so...
what kind of maintance should i pay attention to besides the ignition? how often do injectors need to be replaced?
