Default Thinking about the T-rex.....

I have been reading about Thunder Racing's T-Rex camshaft. That seems like one mean cam! I am thinking about upgrading to that beast, but I really do not want to go through the hassle of having to fly-cut my pistons. I have the Patriot stage II heads with the 59cc chambers. Does anyone know if that cam would work with my setup without piston modification? Also, if this cam is too high lift, in your guy's opinions, what would be the HIGHEST lift cam I should go with 59cc chambers? And what duration and LSA would you recommend? I am looking to MAX out my cam profile..

You'd have to know what size valves and how much the head was milled. But keep in mind that the T-rex was designed to squeeze the most lift and duration possible under the stock heads. Ill bet that anything other than stock is going to require flycutting.

1. I highly doubt the T-rex will fit

2. You question about the highest lift cam that will fit won't get you anywhere. There is a lot more to it than lift. It's a matter of WHEN the vavle is lifted, and for how long, you don't run into PTV issues at max lift. Well, hopefully not.

that cam will not fit withn those heads, I was very close to getting a t rex and had spoken with thunder racing about it a couple times. it will clear stock heads but that is it. you cannot do anything to them. if you really want that cam the isky tool is your friend

Yak is close to 100% correct.
The cam wont fit anything but stock heads AND ET PERFORMANCE 11 degree heads without flycuting.
Also lift has almost nothing to do with P/V clearence. Duration and LSA are far more important.
