Default 5.3 Pistons

Alright, I know the 5.3 blocks pre 04 have dished pistons. Anyone know why GM didn't want to put flat tops in the 5.3 block? If they're only concern was compression... where can I get some flat tops? But then again, if they were worried about valve clearance, would shorter pushrods fix this?

Has anyone done this mod to their 5.3?

I'm going to start building my 5.3 soon. I've got a long list of things I want to do and have a lot of the parts already picked out. Now I just have to get the money to do it all.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

i will tell you those pistons are gona be money unless they have came down since i got some but they very well may have since it was about 3 yrs ago. the thing is no one wants to build a 5.3. i could be wrong like i said it has been a fiew years. all you beed is valve reliefs cut in the pistons and you only need this if you have a nice cam. do what i am doing. i just blew a 5.3 and am gona make an iron block 346.
