Default Prime motor before initial start up?

Like to be able to do this and get lifters pumped up before I put fire in the cylinders. I don't mean to be overly ****, but used to do this on the old school SBC's by pulling the coil wire.

Can this be done by simply pulling the fuel pump fuse and cranking the motor and/or is this necessary? TIA!
