Default Thinner head gaskets?

Would it be worth it to replace my stock gm head gaskets with some .045 cometitcs? I think it would be worth it if I picked up 10 rwhp? What do you all think? MOds in sig.

if you have the stock gaskets at .051 and change to .045 you will get your cr up .005 ie 10.1-1 to 10.2-1 you will pick up maybe 5 rwtq but i don't think any hp. i don't think it's worth pulling off your heads to do that unless you have to pull them already. if so you can go to a .041 or even a .030 to gain a little more.

You'd have to really like working on your car to change the gaskets for a half point of compession.

Make sure your PtoV clearance doesn't get too close.

The improvement in quench area is probably worth some too, over and above the change in compression ratio. I don't know how much improvement though. I'd be interested to hear a number on that...
