Default Urgent! Any difference between 98 & later ls1 short blocks?

I need a quick answer because I have found a 98 shortblock and t56 for cheap!

Is a 98 short block the same as all other model years?

How about the M6 tranny?

Thanks

There are some minute differences, but the one concern you should have would be the crank position sensor. 97-98 used a different reluctor wheel on the crank and a different sensor. As long as the crank and sensor are matched properly, you shouldn't have any issues (the pin-out and signal are the same, AFAIK). Just make sure the shortblock you're looking at either has the CKP sensor in it already, or order one for it.

Off hand, I can't think of any more compatability issues...

Thanks George. I have also been reminded that these blocks can't be bored.

George, who did you order your 382 through and is there anyone local that you trust to work on the car? I'm down and the 382 is looking good.

Thanks,
Ferrell
