oil consumption

is 1 quart of oil per 3000 miles too much oil consumption? the engine hsa 55,000 miles on it so far.

mine is getting to be the same way.. with head and cam with 65,000 miles..

help us out! I heard its normal in LS1's.. because the PCV system is crap or something..

You have to be joking .Thats is normal for most all car and trucks that get used and driven hard .My work truck with a new engine will use that when pulling a trailer.Now if you said 500 miles then you need to worry.I just did a oil change on my 01 WS6 with a built up cam and head package and tried some amsoil 5w-40 and there oil filter also.Try some 40 weight oil your engine will like it.30 is to thin.

ok i guess we can try some amsoil and maybe it will work out better for us.. you think 5w-40 amsoil? Thanks

1 quart every 3K is not "too" bad. I have seen much worse. You may see some improvement by changing to a different oil and you may not. Kind of hit and miss but definately wort h a shot. The 5w-40 has become very popular.
