wow hard question to answer.. I think before you even ask a question like this.. I think a better question is what do you want the new motor to do? N/A, spray, boost, any power goal? There's plenty of places to get a good engine from, but a deciding factor as to what parts will be best, is probably your long term goal. You could spend as much as 15 grand on a new motor, or even more, if you go all out race parts, or possibly do it for about 6, maybe less depending on the application.

What are you looking to accomplish?

Those are all very broad questions,

Depends on what you want to do? Drag racing, Road Racing, DD, Strip car.

NA, Boost, Nitrous?

How much are you willing to spend? Money is going to be a big part on what/who/where you buy...

You can do an all bore 382, or you could do an iron block, 383,402,408,414,427. Or you could do a resleeved engine from 422-455ci blocks. It all just depends on what you wanna do and how much you wanna spend.

As for who's the best;
Threre's plenty of great sponsors that have proven to make BIG power with little money, and also have very reliable setups. MTI, HPE, SDPC, TSP, Rapid.. just to name a few.

I suggest using the search button and going over what you want to do, set your goals and go from there. If you don't have goals then you're not going to be able to choose what you want and you'll never make a decision. Also don't go with what everyone else has or what someone says is badass, choose something that you will be happy with and within your budget.

Set your goals and come back and ask and you will have plenty of answers from this board!

I think this is a very easy question to answer. No matter what your intended use will be, you'll be better off starting with the LS2 block. I also concur with the others that suggested the Scoggin-Dickey 402. It's got to be one of the best deals on the planet!
