Default LS1 truck in progress

I am putting an LS1 out of a 02 SS in my silverado. I am just using my intake and accessories off of my truck. We are taking the motor apart right now and want to go ahead and beef it up some while we have it apart. It is going to be a daily driver and I want it to haul *** too. I have heard to put the 5.3 heads on there and to get a 224 cam. And of course I am going to get some LT headers and a retune from nelson. Right now I have 3.42 gears, should I change it to 3.73 or will that be fine? Any advice would help

Those gears should be fine, how much money are you wanting to spend.

since I have the motor out I want to do it right and get the good stuff. I am in no rush right now and just want a good motor with some hp. I am wanting to do low 14's or something around there. I don't know much about cams either but heard to go with the 224. I was looking at thunder racings website. Is that a good cam or what brand is most commonly used?
