Default And then there were 5...

Okay...So in my search for the camshaft that is perfect for me, I've narrowed it down to 4 different grinds. In no particular order:

1. MTI/Lunati B1 or T1

2. MTI Stealth II

3. Vinci 066 "Stangbanger"

4. TR 224(114 lsa)

They all seem to perform similarly from all the dynos I've seen of them. While I don't necessarily care which cam will dyno more power, I would like the cam that runs the quickest 1/4 mile times.

Assume a free flowing setup: lid, ported TB, LS6 intake, Aftermarket/ported heads, longtubes, ORY pipe, catback, etc.

Also, in an A4 with 3200-3600 stall, and 3.42 gear

What I would like is everyone's advice as to which would run quicker 1/4 mile times. My guess is that it would be one of the last 3 cams that I listed since they seem to have fatter torque curves...

Thanks in advance for any help/advice given

Original post has been edited/updated. I eliminated 2 of the original cams(CheaTR & Cartek 2X) and added 3 others(220/224; 222/224; Cartek H cam)

I may keep having to do more searches myself as no one seems to have any advice?

I'm partial to Stealth II since I've had it for 2 years and with different head/SCR combos.
Best I could muster cam only was 11.66 @ 117/118mph
Setup:
241 heads with LS6 valves, 918's and tit retainers, .045 Cometic (~10.5 SCR)

Not enough info to give you a recommendation. You'll need to list LSA and intake centerline (ICL) of all the cams to get a better recommendation. Also, not everyone knows the specs of the MTI and Cartek cams so please give us complet specs.

FWIW, I think you could go bigger than any of the cams you mentioned and still have excellent street manners.

I agree, you can go a lot bigger now, with the advancements in tuning and what not thats been going on, you can run a lot bigger cam with great driveability.

I don't get why everyone wants an off the shelf cam, unless time or money is a factor (buying used or in a GP). I'd call up someone like Ed from FTI and get the EXACT cam for your combo. Nothing out of the box or off the shelf is exactly the right cam for YOU. Sure, it will make power and some will make more power than others in possibly different ways...but none of those people have your car with your right foot in your town under your ***. Get a custom cam.

I chose/like the cams in my original post for the fact that they can/do produce 350+ RWTQ at 3000 RPM. From there on they have an increasing, but nice flat torque curve.

I also want to make shifts at or by 6500 RPM, and the cams above fit in that category, IMO...

They may not make the peak numbers of larger cams, but I imagine the average numbers they make probably rival larger cams. As we all know average numbers are what gets the job done--making a streetable car that produces quick E.T.'s.

Plus, the cams in my original post will most likely get better MPG than the larger cams???

I dunno...

I don't have much faith in custom cams. I've seen too many cars with junk parts run quicker times than cars with custom setups...

To be fair, Ed does make some fast *** combos though.

How does 400rwhp/400rwtrq sound to you?
I there is a couple of truely custom grinds around that will able you to do so.

What about something along the lines of the following cam for street driven only with A4, 3400 rpm TC, LT headers, etc.

Duration @ 0.050" 224* / 228*
Duration @ 0.006" 277* / 281*
Valve Lift 0.534/0.537
LSA 112 +2
IVO 29 BTDC
IVC 69 ABDC
EVO 75 BBDC
EVC 27 ATDC
ICL 110

Sounds pretty good. Are you hinting toward the Stealth II, or which other cams?

Does your Stealth II make 350+ RWTQ starting in the 2500-3000 RPM? That is one of the factors I am using in my considerations...

No, I'm hinting at a 224/224, .588/.588 110 lsa +0 (basicaly a FM 2 modified)

My Stealth II made ~350 at 3K rpm and peaked at 383 trq. Very flat curve.
That cam likes higher CR and like I mentionned above, my 241's were not ported, but I ran LS6 valves/918/tit ret./ Cometic .045 and I port matched the exhaust port/header primaries. ~ 10.5 SCR and .038 quench.

I like to "tweak" small cam combos to get the most out of them. It works for me and I've made more power than a lot of 230 duration cams, without all the other side effects, with even better fuel mileage than stock.
Something I have to thank the likes of Tony Mamo who's work I learned to respect a lot once I got to follow his ideals.

For off the shelf, The TR224 on a 112 meets your goals a little better than the 114 LSA.

I agree with Predator that the 224 cam on a 110 LSA & ICL would be strong, as would a 228/224 111 on a 109 ICL
