Question Misfire/rough idle

I attempted to start my 2000 SS the other day. The battery was dead. I jumped it and got it running. It seemed to be running rough or misfiring. It was low on fuel, could i have clogged the fuel filter? Also the battery would not stay charged. The alternator guage said it was charging but the car died again. I do have a check engine light on that i checked a couple of months back and it was just a Converter threshhold bank one. I don't think i clogged a cat in that short of time. Any suggestions of where to start? I did replace the battery with an Optima and i still have the miss.

Thanks

My guess is that its the alternator. Will it still crank?

Default Yes it starts

It starts now with the new battery. I have not driven the car since. Would an alternator cause the rough idle low rpm? The guage says it is charging. I just put the new battery in and changed the oil, now i have to also figure out how to reset the radio. I'll look for a posting in the tech section.

Thanks

It did for me, it started surging and idleing really low...then it adventually just died on me. Which sucked big time.

Sounds like you got it fixed though...just make sure its holding the charge fine.

Default Mine was doing the same thing

Yes it was surging and rough idle. I replaced the battery and reset the pcm by pulling both pcm fuses. I will take it out tomorrow and check it out. Its supposed to be 63 degrees out tomorrow.

I checked the code today. P0300 which is a general engine misfire. Maybe my plugs are fouled, Like i said when i pulled it out of the garage after 1 month i left i running at idle for about 20min at least. Is this common to foul plugs like that. There is only 29k on them, but the car is a 2000. What do you recommend for new plugs?
