Default Valvetrain noise question...

I've replaced almost everything (including the shortblock). I have adjustable rockers and have the preload set at .075 (confirmed with a DI). I have done a swipe test and inserted 7.325 pushrods to make it right. I don't believe any of the internal parts are broken or bent. However, I still have a lot of valvetrain noise. I hear it predominantly out of the headers. Almost like someone is tapping on them. The noise is at valvetrain speed so I'm certain its not bottom end (plus I replaced the shortblock and nothing changed). My question is can someone explain to me how valves or valvesprings can cause noise? The AFR heads have the upgraded PP gold springs and retainers and are the only things I haven't replaced. By the way, I did make sure that the rockers were not hitting the retainers. Thanks!
