383 stroker questions (blower)

Default 383 stroker questions (blower)

Car is 01 C5 vette 6 speed with maggie.

Engine is out with ring lands broken on 3 pistons.

Looking to get into the mid 500 rwhp range or better

Last dyno was 435rwhp with 7 psi and meth.

Questions:

1) Is it worth stroking this puppy? And if so, is the Eagle kit any good? Seems like they use 6.2 rods and 1.05 comp height.

2) What cr to shoot for (for up to 10 psi) Which pistons would work well (best bang for buck)

Note: May throw a 100 shot if I can't get there with blower alone.

3) Anyone gone this route with a maggie?

Note: I will be going with the Dart 225's one way or another. Maybe out of the box or with a little cleaning up.

i have an eagle 383 kit in my ta it put down 409rwhp with no tune. i have not gone back for a new run since i have tunned, but hope to soon. overall i have been very pleased. i am also going to put a blower on mine.

I've been running a 383 NA at 459 rwhp/421 rwtq. I think as long as you run forged pistons and monitor for detonation you should be fine. Detonation is likely what caused your damage. Keep the compression at a safe but efficient level for your application and make sure the tune is right. With quality components you should have no problems.

I have a 2001 C5/6spd also... Several of our vendors offer 383 assembled short-blocks. Call TSP and speak with Trevor. I just hit them up for an all forged 383 also..
