spun a bearing?

what does a spun bearing sound like?...I hear a really really high pitched sound coming from my engine..it almost hurts my ears. It isn't constant though..on and off.

It can sound like a loud chirp, grinding or knocking.

Take off the belt that drives water pump, power steer, alternator. Start it up and see if the sound is still there.
