Default Head porters I have a question.....

My GTO has a 214-222 559-566 115+4
Its got all the boltons and a 3000 stall,Its tuned too..

Now I was told a 205 runner with good flow # would compliment this setup but I was thinking about a LS2 or perhaps real LS6 heads with the LW valves...No porting at all,I would just deck them to 62CC,run a .047 MLS gasket and do a back cut on the valves..

Do u think this would work..
I'd go from 10.1CR to 11.1CR and have a 218CC Runnered head that should flow alittle better CFM than a standard Z06 casting (Maybe 270ish with the backcut)

My shift point it 6500 so I know this head should work,U porters out there please tell me what u think about this idea...I could do this for under 1000 with machine work...(700 for 243 castings and about 200 for milling, backcut and spring hieght setup)

Or should I just go Dart 205's for 1150???

What 218cc runnered head are you talking about? I thought Darts cost about $1300 assembled and aren't available yet. $1000 would buy you better heads than LS6 heads with a little valve work.

LS6 heads are about 218CC
Darts are 205 and I'm direct with Dart,I can but them for under 1300 a set.
But if I can do the LS6 heads with just a back cut, milling I might save the 300 to 400

Well porters whattya say....

I would go with a mildly ported set of 241 LS1 heads than a set of unported 243 LS6 heads.

i would go with a set of ported 243's,but that just me.Your car already has 243 heads on it which are the same as true ls6 casting, just doesnt have the lightweight valves which are way over hyped and priced anyways.Buy some 243's and have them ported and then when you pull off your 243's sell them and get a big chunck of money back.or you could get a set from patriot performance for a real good price.either way you cant go wrong.

My cars an 04,it has 241 castings on it...

Anyway I've talked to a few porters and friends and I'm going with the Darts, there 205CC/62CC chambers and with the .047 MLS I'll have exactly what I want as far as velocity and cfm...I can also sell my 241's for 250 all day long as cores...Figure 1150 for Darts - 250 = 900
