Default Bad Noises on my way to work today....

Ok, so im driving to work today and notice a slight ticking that starts to get louder (almost knocking)as im going. Make it to work but oil pressure was dipping low. Can't quite tell if its top end or bottom. When i pulled into the lot the engine was smoking some from the sides etc. I have a futral f11 cam and moly pushrods, crane duals. Idle was fine, motor was still running semi decently besides the noise but something is def wrong. I checked the oil and it looks like its up, gonna check again as the engine was running for about 2hrs and couldn't get a good reading on the dipstick. No low oil light though.

What do you guys think.....

Subscribing... Did you try the masking tape on the pulley idea to see if its ticking at full or half engine speed?

K, Problem found. Im pissing oil from either the filter or block and im really hoping it's from the filter. There's a nice rainbow trail coming from my car in the lot. Im gonna see if i can jack it up, possibly tighten the filter and refill with a few quarts. Hopefully nothing got damaged if thats the problem. Why in the hell would my filter loosen up. damn.

The gaskets have been known to blow out... or maybe you hit something that punctured the filter. Anyway, i hope the ticking goes away after you top her back off. Maybe it was just a little air in the pickup that caused some lifter ticking, kindof like an pinched o ring does. Atleast there may be a little hope. Keep me updated after you either tighten or replace the filter and fill her back up.

Filled it up last night and drove home. Motor is fine luckily. Im still leaking oil from somewhere around the filter area though. I tightened it up before leaving and it was dripping when i arrived home. Only happening while the engine is running though. It was too late and cold last night to check it out. Hopefully its the filter or filter seal. Very strange.

Holy **** man, youre very lucky you didnt wind up with a spun bearing. glad to hear you got it sorted out. Probably is just the oil filter gasket leaking. Scary ****.
