I'm the southern guy with the MS3 I love it.. I'm going to try 4.30 to how it feels, I wonder if 26x11.5x16 will make shift into fifth in the 1/4?

I'd never attempt a cam that size with 3.42's in an M6. It may be doable, but a cam anywhere near that size needs more gear.

Thanks for posting up those clips carlos. I remember the video of your car when you had just put on the QTP headers with the cut-outs, it sounded like a monster. I see myself getting the MS3 i have only heard great things about it. Can't wait, i want it already.

I am almost certain that TRMN8R is running on stock gears.

I have an MS3 and most bolt ons, the car is tuned and driveability is close to stock but I do ahve 4.10s. BUT the low end torque on this thing is horrible. On WOT pulls, it shows DECENT torque but driving around town, hitting it from 2-3k rpms, this thing is a dog. Requires MUCH more throttle to get the car moving(especially with 3.42s). I love the way it sounds but the top end hit does NOT offset its low to midrange loss on the street. Maybe in an auto with a 4k stall it would be fine but. I am actually about to try an MTI head/smaller cam setup. My car is a FULL weight 3750lb turd, even with 400 rwhp at peak.

I agree with what your saying that's why I went with an FM13 and I have an MN 12 w\342's (the equivalent of 390's for an MN6). Even with my gears and the smaller cam I can tell I lost a little on the low end. I couldn't imagine a large cam with 342's. The top end numbers are impressive, but it can't be fun getting pulled off a light by a housewife in a rush in her minivan.

DAmn the low end sucks that bad? But im sure the 4.30s will compensate for the loss in torque when i get the rear end. I can just imagine a soccer mom pulling from me in her astro van or some **** lol.

Yeah, Sean is on stock gears. He doesn't have much trouble. Once he sprays though, it probably helps to have the 3.42s because of all the torque.

low end is what you give up on a big cam making lots of power. that the hole point i know myself when i do the ms3 or even the cam i have now, i don't launch off idle. always go bigger because you will regret it later. do the install once!!!

Thats a good point REDWS6, i would hate to not like the power i am making and times im running because my cam just isn't enough. I know that I will be getting a rear end with most likely 4.30's. But till then i don't mind losing most of the torque.

Read somewhere on this site about an MS3 user who was still on stock 2.73 gear in his A4. Guy said he liked the cam.
You would think that it would be horrible on 2.73's and an A4 (don't remember his stall though).

2.73's, 3500 stall and MS3 is definately not recommended and FAR from ideal NA.

I have 3.23's plus the MS3 and restalled from 3500 to 4000. It is much happier with the 4k stall speed.

AUTOs will be fine with an MS3(once tuned) as long as they have a 3600+ stall. The converter multiplies the torque so much it offsets the loss down low and then you have the HP gain up top.

On the M6 with 4.10s and 4.30s YES it helps, especially in town but then the problem is you run out of gear at the strip if you are trying to run it through in 4th on a 25.5" tire. Mine is on the limiter by 120mph in 4th.. Fine if you are running a HC/C or just cam but..makes my 150hp shot useless unless I try to run a 27-28" tire and my car is lowered. My next setup will be some good heads, smaller cam and a 3.73. BUT when I compare my chart to other charts with smaller cams, the low end torque loss is not as obvious as it is on the track and street

Notice the low end tq at 3k rpms...its still decent but it feels NOTHING how it looks on this chart. BTW this is with a stock TB, NO pulley and 28 degrees timing and my old 3.42s. Now with 4.10s(in the 10bolt), 24 degrees I am sitting around 381hp/367 tq
