Or...............you could go with a TR220 (220/220 .551/.551).
More agressive ramp rate...yet less duration/smaller lift=valvetrain friendly. I would think it safe to say it would make more power than the hot cam/Z06 or Z+220....JMO.
Someone here...I think it was Gomer....made like 400+rwhp/390ish tq with TR220 and some Patriot heads (not sure which) + bolt ons.
I've ordered the TR220 and will have it installed and dyno'd the week after Christmas. I'll post results.

As already mentioned, the low lift Vinci/Crane grinds are worth a look. You can also purchase their handheld tuner that's mated to the product.

Currently running the TR220. Great for street with significant power gain. The 114 I run is very smooth and with mostly bolt ons I dynoed 355hp and 345tq. It is a good all purpose cam and great for street. I will be changing to a 226/226 112 next month so my 220 will be up for sale about 2000 mi on it. You might want to consider the TR224 its a very popular cam, streetable, and makes good power. If you like the lope I would go with the 112. If you car is a DD I think I would consider the 224 and definately 918s.

I know the TR224 cam is a Great and proven cam, but what about the Futral F10 cam for a little more GO. 228/228 576/576 112lsa. Not highjacking your thread just would like to know what you Guys think.

Ya, you're running a small cam with a higher ratio rocker in effect making it a larger cam. Why not just save some $ and buy a cam with larger specs to begin with?

Instead of talking peak HP with a cam change, talk about how much HP is gained since different engines start with different base numbers. So yes some guys have gotten 370-380 hp out of the hotcam, but that doesn't mean many or most do. chances are they had a stronger engine to begin with.

If you're looking for a decent inexpensive small cam LPE has the GT2-5 222/222 .566/.566 (basically the old C1 grind) for $250. The z+220 specs looks similar to the B1. I'd pick it over the hot cam.

I like those SPDC cams, for the price you can't beat them. I called up crane and they told me I culd get 100,000 miles out of the springs with the 551 lift cams. You can also call SPDC and have them change the numbers for you, its still the same price as well. I was going to have them change the numbers to 224/224 551 551 114. I really want a bigger cam like the 228/228 one they have but changed to 228/228 551/551 112 Even with this slightly bigger cam, your not going to have much more trouble with drivability. I drove an untuned 236 cam 100 miles per day without much trouble-just a bit of surging at 1200 rpm and 5 mph. I imagine the 228 version would put at least the same amount of power as the hotcam, if not better

I'm selling my Comp Cam 220/220 .564/.564 114 for $200 shipped if you're interested. It has very low miles on it and is in the original box - ready for shipping.

I did a lot of research and now have the SDPC Z+220 on the floor waiting for install. Adv specs are 282/286 with about 57deg overlap so its not that small. Its basically the same as the crane 1440067 or Vinci 067 cam, but cheaper. It came in a crane box with the crane part number as mentioned. Ramp rates are quite racey. Especially with my comp 915 springs and 1.8 YT rockers!
Im going to do a before and after dyno but the install isnt going to happen till March next, so sorry if you want to make a decision before then

This is good to know. I always thought that you couldnt change the duration and keep the same lift on there.....

But what happens to the hotcam when you use the 1:85 rockers?

Well, I ended up getting a hotcam after all. Hope to see what the outcome is going to be.

I'm also looking at the SPDC +220 cam I think 1.8 rockers will really wake that thing up. The .551 lift will go to appox. .582 . On the Hot Cam that would take the .525 lift to appox. .556. There is an advantage to getting the higer lift with 1.8 rockers. Ask GM they went to them on the new ZO6 motor.

I was hoping to see what this cam would do. I guess we'll see how the HotCam works out for you. Good luck with it.
