Default What head company???

I'm going to build a stroker for the old vette(98 vert m6). Probabley in the 420-30 cid range. Sleeves for an LS1 are crazy money. So what cyclinder head manufacter has the best head for the buck/appliction? What about ETP vs. AFR? How large a cc int runner will be needed, ETP has a 265? Also what's the longest arm you can swing in the bottom of the LS1 block? Has anyone gone bigger than 4.250"??????

ETP owns afr in every way shape and form....4.25 is the biggest crank i've heard of in the ls1 stuff. 4.25 stroke with a 3.905" bore would yeild around 406 ci i think that would be a torquey little motor for sure. with a good solid roller setup and a set of ETP 240-265cc heads it should make some power.

BTK, Let me help ya out on some specifics of what your wanting to do. It looks like your trying to build the largest stroker you can obtain with marketed parts. The sleeves you want are expensive, and you'll have to add even more to the price when you go with that long of a stroke. I had to spend an extra $300 on my Darton LS2 dry sleeves so I could get a longer than factory sleeve. You need the longer sleeve in order to keep your rings stacked in a normal height. If you don't, the rings will have to be cramed into the space avalible and that's not good. I'm not sure how much extra it would cost on a MID sleeve like your wanting, but I'm sure the price would be similar.
As for the heads, it just depends on what kinda bore size your working with. ETP has about the best head on the market right now. The 265's are alot more expensive than the others, plus you have to buy $1500 specific rockers to go on them. A set of their 255's might be more economical.

Were still waiting on the block and custom pistons. The longer sleeves added 8 weeks to my time, but that should be over with by now. I'm actually waiting on a return e-mail to update me on the progress. The heads and rockers are in the mail to me as we speak.
