Default Help Me With a Build

I have a 98 Trans Am with:
Pacesetter LT's
TSP Y
TSP XR-1 Rumbler
Volant Style Twin Cone Intake

I want to do heads and cam, but am on a $2,000.00 budget. A few friends and i will be doing all the work. I fugured, why buy a cam and pay someone 6-700 to install it when i can do the install myself with a few guys. I just need you opinions. I want a cam that will idle decent, produce power, and be usable for everyday use. I have decided on patriot heads, but dont know which ones to get. I will not be going to the track, i just want the car to have more power. I dont have a stall yet and am on the stock 3.23 gears. Dont worry the stall, tranny and rear will be worked on this summer.
So in shoert, i need help on a head and cam decision for a daily driver, i need decent idle and good behavior. Also factored into the 2 grand will be an ls6 oil pump, gasket and bolts install kit and a double roller timing chain. I appreciate the help. Thanks.

I would call TSP.They have H/C packages that will make plenty of power and will fit within your budget.

I just want some opinions. If i call TSP or TR or any other sponsers, they will point me to their products. I want to see what experience in quality and price you guys have had. Especially with the heads. I'm leaning more towards the patriot heads.

Do a search for patriot heads or just rummage through the internal/external engine forums. There is plenty of stuff in here about any and all heads to fit your budget.
