Default LS engine block question???

Hey guys,
I am about to get a 5.3 truck engine out of a 2002 avalanche for free. I guess the engine has a lower end noise so it was replaced. I am going to take the heads off and use them on my 2000 trans am after gettin a valve job and port work. I guess my question is, what is the 5.3 bore size because i am thinking of useing that block for a 355 low compression engine? Also is the 3.905 a 355?And is the crank that is in the 5.3 the same that is in the 5.7 and if so, what is the max hp for that crank? What should be done to that crank, have it balanced and polished? I am hopen the lower end noise isnt anything or it wont be bad to fix, and i am hopen i can put some rods and low compression pistions in it as long as the crank is the same.
Thx rob

ok, umm i believe the 5.7 is a 3.900 bore so what would a 355 be a 3.905 bore? That is what i dont know and what is the stock 5.3 bore size?

i had a 3.908 bore and it was a 348, SBC old school you would go from 4.000 to 4.030 to get a 355 with gen III a 4.000 is a 364 (6.0L) and a 4.030 is a 370 the 5.3 5.7 and 6.0 use the same crank and rods with a diffrent bore

But hey i could be wrong

off the wall guess for 355 cid in a gen III small block 3.96X the thousandths it the number you should be playing with, a 347 is still a strong running motor not sure why your tring to get a 355 jjust remember a 5.7 LS1 is 346cid

stock bore for a 5.3 is 3.78 i think

you cant get a 355ci with a 5.3/5.7 block. 3.905 bore and 3.622 stroke equals a 347. the stock 5.3 bore is 3.779. also i believe the 02 block wont go to 3.905 like the later 5.3 blocks, i dont remember the year break down.

I was just using a 355 for that number, first one to pop into my head. I guess depending on the block, since i dont have it yet i will get it later this week. What would the best route be for the motor, the motor will be a forced induction motor so i want low compression?Would a 347 be good, i am doing a budget build. I would like to use same crank granted it wont be messed up and then i thought about some rods and some new pistion? Any suggestion on what you guys would do?
thx rob
